Terms of Service
Last updated
These Terms cover who may use LevelForge, what you may and may not do with it, and the limits of what we promise. The section on linking your gaming accounts is the one most specific to this service, and is worth reading in full.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (the Terms) form a binding agreement between you and LevelForge (we, us, our) covering your use of the LevelForge website and any related features we make available (together, the Service).
By creating an account, or by otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 16 if you are in a jurisdiction where 16 is the minimum age at which you can consent to the processing of your personal data. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
By using the Service you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that you are not barred from using the Service under any law that applies to you.
3. Your account
You need an account to use most of the Service. When you register you agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- Keep your password confidential, and do not share your account with anyone else.
- Tell us promptly at support@levelforge.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
- Choose a username that is not misleading, offensive, or an impersonation of another person or organisation. We may reclaim or change a username that breaches this.
You may close your account at any time. See Suspension and termination for what happens to your data when you do.
4. Linking your gaming accounts
The Service works by reading publicly available information from the gaming platforms you choose to link, and combining it into a single profile, level and ranking. This section is specific to how that works, and matters more than the rest.
- We never ask for your platform password. With the exception of Battle.net, which uses Blizzard's own sign-in flow, you link an account by giving us a public identifier — a Steam profile URL, a gamertag, a Riot ID — and we read only what that platform already publishes to anyone.
- Only link accounts you own or are authorised to link. Because the data is public, nothing technically stops you entering someone else's identifier. Doing so breaches these Terms, and we may remove the link, reset the resulting statistics, or suspend your account.
- Your use of each platform remains governed by that platform's own terms. We are not a party to those agreements and cannot grant you rights under them.
- We do not control the underlying data. If a platform changes its privacy settings, its interfaces, or the data it publishes, features that depend on it may degrade or stop working, with or without notice.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation.
- Falsify, inflate or otherwise manipulate statistics, XP, levels or leaderboard standings, including by automated means or by exploiting a defect. Statistics obtained that way may be reset without notice.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
- Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure.
- Scrape, crawl or otherwise extract data from the Service at scale, or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code of any part of the Service, except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable under applicable law.
- Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission.
6. Public profiles and leaderboards
The Service is built around comparison, so parts of your profile are public by design. While your profile visibility is set to public, your username, country, avatar, level, tier and lifetime XP can be seen by anyone — including people who are not signed in — and your profile appears in player search and on the global leaderboard.
You can switch your profile to private in your account settings, which removes it from search and from the leaderboard. Please read the What is public section of our Privacy Policy before deciding.
7. Content you provide
You keep ownership of everything you upload or submit — your avatar, your tagline, and anything else you add to your profile (Your Content).
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating and providing the Service — for example, re-encoding your avatar and showing it on your profile, on the leaderboard and in search results. That licence ends when you remove the content, except to the extent it has already been shared with others or we are required to keep it.
You represent that you hold the rights necessary to grant that licence and that Your Content does not infringe anyone else's rights. We may remove content that breaches these Terms.
8. Our intellectual property
The Service itself — its software, design, text, graphics, the LevelForge name and logo, and the XP, level and tier system — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted.
9. Third-party platforms and trademarks
LevelForge is an independent project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the platforms whose public data we read, including:
- Valve Corporation (Steam)
- GOG sp. z o.o. (GOG.com)
- Epic Games, Inc. (Epic Games Store)
- Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation Network)
- Microsoft Corporation (Xbox)
- Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. (Battle.net)
- Riot Games, Inc. (League of Legends)
All product names, logos, trademarks and game titles are the property of their respective owners, and are used here only to identify the platform or game they refer to. Game artwork and achievement descriptions are supplied by the relevant platform and remain the property of their owners.
10. Availability and changes to the Service
The Service is under active development. We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time, and we may impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Service without notice or liability.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available uninterrupted or error-free. Statistics are refreshed periodically rather than in real time, so figures shown may lag behind the source platform or, if a platform changes the data it publishes, be incomplete or incorrect.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to support@levelforge.app.
We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your use of the Service creates a risk or legal exposure for us or for other users. We may also discontinue the Service entirely.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Our intellectual property, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability and Governing law — continue to apply after your account is closed.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any statistic, level, ranking or estimate it displays is accurate or complete. Some figures are estimates rather than measurements, and are labelled as such in the interface.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data or gaming progress, arising out of or relating to your use of — or inability to use — the Service, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50. The Service is currently provided free of charge.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LevelForge and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party — including any claim that you linked a gaming account you were not authorised to link.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will give reasonable advance notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and close your account.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Argentina. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live.
17. General
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force.
- Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
